Our Heritage PTO also grants each classroom a grant for up to $250 to spend on curriculum and classroom items!
Kelsey De La Croix (speech-language pathologist) requested a grant for materials for her speech room to help further engage students and increase receptive, expressive, and social language skills as well as articulation abilities.

The sixth grade team requested playground equipment for our sixth graders to facilitate team sports and group activities. Durable rubber GAGA balls, basketballs, footballs, flags for football, jump ropes, volleyballs, soccer balls, double dutch jump ropes, and a cart to organize and store all of the materials in our pod

Mrs. DiPetro requested lap desks for small group time and the Splash Reading Game from Lakeshore.
The lap desks will provide comfortable ways to work and write on the floor during small groups. The literacy game will be used for differentiated reading instruction. Students will be able to work with a volunteer or EA for targeted instruction of a phonics skill.

Mrs. Beck requested flexible seating for her classroom. Flexible seating creates a positive learning environment. It allows students choice and helps students focus and concentrate better.

Ms. Holcomb requested a shelf and white boards for a student directed science observation station. I need these items to complete a station in the room where students can do science projects or observations. Students will make, record, and discuss observations of science related items as part of the Science and Engineering Practices and science standards.

The third grade team requested a field trip to the History and Science Museum to support student learning on fossils. We would like to use the money for buses.

The fifth grade team requested transportation for field trip to Young AmeriTowne. Young AmeriTowne is an educational program to help students learn about business, economics, and free enterprise in a fun and hands-on way. Due to our transportation issues in Douglas County School District, we still want to provide this amazing experience to our students. In order to attend, Heritage needs to contract our transportation to a private company that comes at a cost.

The fourth grade team requested transportation for a field trip to the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora. The Plains museum provides an opportunity to tie our Colorado History curriculum to a hands-on opportunity to see what Native American life on the plains and Homesteaders life on the plains in the 1800s was like. In order to attend, Heritage needs to contract our transportation to a private company that comes at a cost.

Ms. Wheeler requested materials to use as Brain Bins (STEAM) and during Discovery (purposeful play). Discovery Time is a very important part of our day where students learn to take risks, be creative, problem solve, etc. For both Brain Bins and Discovery items, her students will have the opportunity to select items.

A primary focus of Heritage PTO is to help support our school with supplementary curriculum for our students & teachers. Here is where our Heritage PTO funds were spent last year:
Flocabulary is a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum. Flocabulary's multisensory approach of using music, rhythm and rhyme is supported by a profound body of academic research. Music facilitates memorization and recall of academic content, while the use of hip-hop and other culturally-relevant media increases student engagement.
Generation Genius is a K-8 teaching resource that brings school science standards to life through fun and educational videos paired with lesson plans, activities, quizzes, reading material and more.
With PTO funds we are able to purchase iReady Instruction site license for every student K-6 to access personalized, self-paced lessons in both Reading and Math.
The powerful duo of Foundations A-Z and Raz-Plus provides educators with a range of engaging, research-based resources to provide everything students need to become skilled readers. Built on the Science of Reading, Foundations A-Z empowers educators to effectively teach all foundational skills and instill the joy of learning. Raz-Plus is a blended learning platform that combines teacher-led whole-class and small-group instruction with technology-enabled resources for personalized reading practic
Math’s Mate has become a favorite with teachers, parents and students because of its ability to simplify the process of mastering math skills. In the last 25 years the program has helped more than 5 million students. It encourages students by highlighting their progress, and inspires them by showing that learning additional math skills is manageable.
Mystery Science provides content that excites children about the wow in the world around them. They craft explanations around real kid questions and invest in motivating our explanations and bringing them to life with wow visuals. Kids as active explorers who learn not by listening and consuming, but by discussing, by building and observing hands-on models, and by writing about what they learn.
