The Kindergarten team requested materials to support key areas of early learning. They purchased decodable readers to strengthen foundational literacy skills, hands-on activities for “Brain Bins” that promote STEAM exploration, and manipulatives to enhance Discovery Time. These resources will help create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for our youngest students.

The second grade team used their PTO grant to supplement Literacy and Math instruction in the classroom. With the generous support, they were able to purchase books, hands-on activities, educational games, and essential supplies. These resources have enriched daily lessons and helped create a more engaging and supportive learning environment.

Third grade used their PTO grant to help cover transportation costs and bring two "In School" field trips to Heritage. Part of the grant funded busing for a visit to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, where students explored fossils and prehistoric life. The in-school field trips provided engaging, hands-on learning about Native American cultures and weather, enriching their understanding of key science and social studies topics.

The 4th grade team received a grant for two in-school field trips that brought Colorado history to life. In the fall, Ranger Trey led an interactive session on the Ancestral Puebloan and Paleo People, where students explored early agriculture, ancient tools, and even tried spear throwing with an atlatl. In the spring, Miss Veronica guided students through Westward Expansion, deepening their understanding of pioneer life and its impact.

The fifth grade team requested transportation for field trip to Young AmeriTowne. Young AmeriTowne is an educational program to help students learn about business, economics, and free enterprise in a fun and hands-on way. Due to our transportation issues in Douglas County School District, we still want to provide this amazing experience to our students. In order to attend, Heritage needs to contract our transportation to a private company that comes at a cost.

The sixth grade has requested a field trip to the Downtown Aquarium in Denver, which offers students a hands-on, immersive experience that brings science and environmental concepts to life. We don’t want our students to miss out on this valuable opportunity. Due to ongoing transportation challenges within the Douglas County School District, Heritage will need to contract transportation through a private company, which involves an additional cost.

The lap desks will provide comfortable ways to work and write on the floor during small groups. The literacy game will be used for differentiated reading instruction. Students will be able to work with a volunteer or EA for targeted instruction of a phonics skill.
